If you give a kid a frosting bag

Marisa is really good at being an aunt, and had some of our nieces and nephews over to decorate cakes. She's nice and let me decorate some as well.

My mother in law has a ton of frosting tips, so we they got creative. Check out the results below:

This was my first. I was going for something kind of out there, and I can definitely say that that was achieved.

Here's my second one. It was supposed to be a bouquet of flowers, and then I put sprinkles on it, so I'm not sure what it is.

The rest are my niece and nephew's. As you can tell, they are very creative!

Marisa's flower cupcake-probably the prettiest one :)

New Years Eve Recap

Our New Years was similar to our Christmas-low key, but still fun. We got to California on the 29th, so we got to celebrate New Years with Woody's family. All the family that lives close by came and we ate food, played games, and talked.

1. Ham/Turkey Buns-These are just rolls with mayo, mustard, and ham or turkey. They're easy, but a crowd favorite! We had them at our wedding reception in May, and they are one of the Layne family's traditions.
2. Veggie Dip
3. Prosciutto, Salami, and Pepperoni wrapped Mozzarella
4. Whole Foods Goat Cheese, Cranberry, and Almond Cheese Ball
5. Veggie Platter!
6. Whole Foods creamy blue cheese with Dalmatia Sour Cherry Spread
7. "Dad's Salad"-This is one of my father in laws favorite salads-pineapple, mandarin oranges, coconut, marshmallows, and sour cream.
8. No Layne party is complete without See's candy! And we got 5 pounds of it. Even with the amount of people who came, there was still 2 pounds leftover afterwards, which is bad news for those of us who live in the same house as the leftovers!

My nieces and nephews celebrated New Years at 8 o'clock by lighting off fireworks, burning sparklers, and popping a ton of party poppers-so many--the ground was covered in confetti!

We stayed up til 11 and then went to sleep. We were still adjusting to the time change, and recovering from the long drive to CA, so we were exhausted! It was a fun night though!

Christmas Recap

This was our first Christmas we celebrated together, and it was a bit different than Christmas' past! But it was still great. We were moving two days after Christmas, so we had a lot of our apartment packed up at that point. We slept in, opened our presents, went to church, came back and ate breakfast, took a nap, then ate apple pie and ice cream for dinner! We also watched some Christmas movies on TV too.

I love the Christmas season for every aspect of it. I love the music, decorations, the spirit of it, and Christmas shopping for those I love! It's such a great time to remember our Savior and celebrate his birth. Christmas is definitely one of my favorite holidays.

Just an artistic shot of our tree :)

Our pink tree and our present pile!

My mom got us a Christmas scrapbook so we can document our first Christmas together. I'm excited to put our pictures in it!

I got Woody a cap gun for Christmas. One of the only things we disagree on is guns, so I bought him one as a joke :)

My mom bought us bomber hats! We love them.

SIL Marisa got us a bunch of awesome sushi stuff!! We love sushi, and Marisa!

Christmas breakfast-potato pancakes, strawberries, and delicious omelets!

Christmas dinner--we were full still, so we decided to just have apple pie and ice cream!

Even though it was busy, Christmas was still a great chance to reflect on the birth of our Savior and to spend time with each other. I'm so glad we were able to spend Christmas together!

PS Sorry I'm so late at posting this...again, we were so busy with moving, I'm just now catching up!
